WHAT IS CRIME STOPPERS?

CRIME STOPPERS is a non-profit program relying on cooperation between police, news media and citizens. CRIME STOPPERS encourages people to call with information to help solve crimes already committed, those about to occur, and/or the whereabouts of wanted persons.

If your information fits the criteria and leads to an arrest, CRIME STOPPERS offers you a method in which you can pass this information on to the police and never have to reveal your identity! At the same time, you will be eligible for a CASH REWARD also paid anonymously. The rewards run up to $1,000 depending upon the weight of your information.

When you call our direct line, 1-800-392-TIPS (8477), you will be assigned a special code number which you will identify with in all future dealings with CRIME STOPPERS.

Your call will not be traced. You will not be required to testify. No one will know who you are! You will remain anonymous: even CRIME STOPPERS will not know who you are.

WHO FUNDS CRIME STOPPERS?

CRIME STOPPERS is funded solely by private, tax deductible donations of money, goods, or services from the community, including businesses, corporations, clubs, associations, retailers, and individuals. NO local, state or federal tax monies are used.

CASH REWARD!

Unlike other reward programs which stipulate "arrest and conviction," CRIME STOPPERS pays upon ARREST only. Each caller is given a code number and rewards are paid in cash to ensure anonymity.

Your reward will be passed on to you after proper identification by code number at a prearranged location. The police will not be involved.

WHO OPERATES CRIME STOPPERS?

A group of concerned citizens comprise the Board of Directors. The reward fund is not tax dollars; instead monies are solicited from the private sector by Board members. It is the Board's duty to oversee the operations of the program and approve rewards to be paid.

The Board of Directors does not know who called in the information - only the facts of the case and the caller's CRIME STOPPERS number.
